2. Beyond Standard Products: Meeting the Demands of Specialized Applications

Standardized products can meet the requirements of conventional equipment. However, specialized operating environments often introduce challenges that go beyond standard specifications, including higher protection ratings, complex mounting structures, demanding temperature and humidity conditions, ultraviolet exposure, salt spray corrosion, and special gas environments.

Acxion's customization capabilities are designed to address these requirements.

With in-house R&D and manufacturing capabilities, Acxion can develop products based on customers' actual equipment structures and operating conditions. Customization may cover product dimensions, external structures, protection solutions, materials, contacts, and performance specifications, extending product selection from standardized configurations to application-specific solutions.

The following three completed projects demonstrate how Acxion applies this capability in practice.

  • Case Study 1 | Integrated Emergency-Stop Button Box with Protective Cover

A customer required a customized emergency-stop button box with a P22 panel cutout and an integrated protective cover, with a target protection rating of IP65.

Rather than adopting the conventional approach of combining a pushbutton with a separate protective cover, Acxion developed an integrated design that combined the emergency-stop button and protective cover into a single structure.

This structural optimization achieved the required IP65 protection rating while creating a cleaner overall appearance. It also eliminated the need for separate protective-cover installation, making on-site assembly more convenient.

  • Case Study 2 | UV-Resistant Emergency-Stop Button for an Energy Storage Project

Compared with conventional industrial environments, certain energy storage applications require equipment to withstand more demanding outdoor and complex operating conditions.

An energy storage customer specified a series of requirements for an emergency-stop button, including:

  • Altitude above 5,000 meters.

  • High-temperature and high-humidity conditions of 85°C/85% RH.

  • Low-temperature operation at -40°C.

  • UV resistance without discoloration.

  • Resistance to corrosion from special gases.

  • 500-hour cyclic salt spray testing.

  • IP66 protection rating.

These requirements meant that the product needed to maintain not only basic functionality, but also stable mechanical, electrical, and appearance performance under extreme environmental conditions.

To meet the project requirements, Acxion developed a customized solution covering materials, structure, contacts, and protection performance.

High-performance plastic compounds and metal components were selected to improve resistance to high temperatures, humidity, UV exposure, and corrosive environments. The contacts received special gold plating treatment to reduce the risk of contact oxidation, abnormal contact performance, and functional failure.

The product also underwent internal and third-party certification testing, with verification covering high and low temperatures, humidity, UV exposure, special gases, cyclic salt spray, and protection performance.

The final product met the project's specified environmental requirements, providing a more reliable control solution for safe operation of energy storage equipment in complex environments.
