From November 10 to 13, 2026, Flytronics Group will exhibit at electronica 2026 in Munich, Germany. We look forward to connecting with industry partners from around the world, exchanging insights on industry trends, and exploring collaboration opportunities and diversified solutions across the electronics supply chain.

At the exhibition, Grand Vision, a business unit of Flytronics Group, will showcase selected products and solutions from its authorized brand portfolio. Among them, Bussmann, Eaton's specialist circuit protection brand, will feature fuse solutions for applications including high-voltage systems in new energy vehicles (NEVs), onboard chargers (OBCs), and new energy storage systems.
These products demonstrate key capabilities in high-voltage circuit protection, compact design, and system safety, offering a range of circuit protection options for diverse application requirements.
Matching Circuit Protection Solutions to Application Requirements
1. High-Voltage Systems in NEVs: Fast Interruption and Safety Protection
As NEVs transition toward higher-voltage platforms, battery systems, electric drive systems, and high-voltage power distribution circuits face increasingly demanding requirements for rated voltage, breaking capacity, and fault response. In the event of a short circuit or other abnormal condition, protection devices must interrupt the fault current effectively under specified conditions to help minimize the impact on the electrical system.
To address these requirements, Bussmann EV Series fuses and Pyro Fuse devices can be selected according to the electrical parameters and protection requirements of individual circuits, supporting both conventional overcurrent protection and active circuit disconnection.
· EV Series Fuses: When used in conjunction with Pyro Fuse devices, these fuses support a coordinated, multi-level protection strategy for different fault scenarios in NEV high-voltage circuits, addressing both conventional overcurrent protection and rapid high-voltage circuit interruption requirements.
· Pyro Fuse Devices: Using a triggering principle similar to that of an automotive airbag, these devices employ an initiator and a propellant mechanism to rapidly sever a copper busbar and disconnect the high-voltage circuit. Interruption can be achieved within approximately 2 milliseconds. Dual-trigger versions incorporate an independent triggering mechanism that can interrupt the high-voltage circuit under specific conditions, including certain failures of the external trigger command, further enhancing system-level fault safety.
By coordinating conventional fuse protection with active circuit disconnection, this solution helps improve high-voltage circuit response to short circuits and other abnormal conditions. Related technologies have been used in high-voltage battery systems from automakers such as Tesla and Volkswagen, supporting active safety protection in NEV high-voltage applications.
2. Onboard Chargers (OBCs): High-Voltage Protection in a Compact Design
The onboard charger (OBC) is a key component of an NEV charging system. As onboard charging power increases, circuit protection devices must meet the overcurrent protection requirements of high-voltage DC circuits while accommodating the limited installation space available in automotive equipment. Balancing protection performance with a smaller component footprint has therefore become an important consideration in OBC design.
Designed to address high-voltage protection and space constraints, the Bussmann 14 mm xEV Series offers multiple electrical ratings and mounting configurations. It combines high-voltage DC protection capabilities with compact packaging, providing flexible component selection options for different OBC designs.
Bussmann 14 mm xEV Series Fuses
Product series: EAC14 / EXC14 / EKC14
· Rated voltage range: 500–1,000 V DC
· Rated current range: 40–80 A
· Breaking capacity: Up to 50 kA
· Mounting options: Bolt-mounted and PCB-terminal configurations, among others
The series features a compact design that helps reduce component footprint while meeting applicable circuit protection requirements. For example, the 80 A version measures just 38 mm in length, approximately 25.5% shorter than a conventional 51 mm solution, creating additional space for internal OBC module layout.
The products are also covered by an IATF 16949 quality management system certification, supporting automotive industry quality management requirements and providing an additional reference for the design and selection of automotive electrical equipment.
3. New Energy Storage Systems: High-Voltage DC Circuit Protection
As energy storage systems move toward higher voltage levels and greater capacity, components used in battery clusters, DC bus aggregation, and power conversion face increasingly demanding requirements for breaking capacity, response time, and environmental adaptability.
Energy storage equipment and associated power electronics may also operate for extended periods under challenging conditions, including temperature variations and vibration, placing greater emphasis on the reliability of circuit protection devices.
For high-power electrical equipment, the Bussmann 16CT Series uses quartz sand filling technology and incorporates a vibration-resistant design. Subject to its rated parameters and specified operating conditions, the series provides an overcurrent and short-circuit protection option for relevant applications.
Key Features of Bussmann 16CT Series Fuses
· Fast-acting protection: Fuse operation can occur within approximately 2 milliseconds under short-circuit conditions, helping the device respond rapidly to fault currents.
· Breaking capacity: Up to 100 kA at 600 V AC.
· Vibration-resistant design: Validated in accordance with IEC 60068-2-6, supporting applications with vibration-related requirements, such as wind turbine converters.
For energy storage and related power electronics, selecting the right protection device involves more than short-circuit response alone. System voltage, prospective fault current, operating temperature, and installation conditions must also be considered. The characteristics of the Bussmann 16CT Series provide additional options for circuit protection design, with final selection dependent on the actual system parameters and application requirements.
From Product Selection to Application Matching
Electrical systems differ in their operating conditions and protection requirements. Effective circuit protection design must therefore take the specific application into account. Rated voltage, current, breaking capacity, mounting dimensions, and environmental conditions all influence fuse selection and application performance.
Leveraging its access to Bussmann products, Grand Vision works with customers to identify suitable products and discuss application-specific solutions. By helping customers assess component specifications, operating conditions, and selection criteria, Grand Vision provides product support for applications across NEVs, industrial equipment, and new energy systems.
